2 Questions
I have a few:
1: In BF2 and BF2142 (and many other online games) you create your soldier online and the application/game advises you if the name you chose is available. In COD4 this is different. Why? I can change my name a 100 times and hope that it does not clash with another name out there. Am I correct in what I'm saying? Is there a website out there that can check if the name you want to use is available for COD4?
2: When playing on a promo server or clan server the guys sometimes change their soldier names. Why is that? Surely your name identifies you and if you have used it from day 1..why change it when playing a clan match?
Just curious

Re: 2 Questions
LOL Yeah Deckard, when you play with a different name it`s call smurfing and we often do it when you want to spectate someone and/or observe his game play without him knowing it is you.
Also when you want to give someone a bit of gas (without overstepping the boundaries!) you do it in this way but remember an admin can see who you really are!
*EDIT*
There is no way for sure to know if the nick you are using belongs to someone else but what you can do is check the AGASA site, where most of the players that play competitive are registered, and se if your planned nick is being used already.
BUT, you may use ANY nick you want as slong as you use your clan tag also thus seperating you from the other person eg. =DAC=Nickname to *-GTX-*Nickname
There is a gentlemans aggreement between the players that if a person asks you ingame to change your nick as he have been using the particular nick for a time they usually do it but don`t have to.

Re: 2 Questions
hhmm... fishy fishy...
It seems that COD4 has a different approach to most online games... as the character is saved on the local machine, so there is no in-game check for name conflicts...
Does this not open a whole lot more doors for haxing / exploits?
